When doing any work, first the hand leads and then the mouth, which appears to be the rule of life, but it is not the complete truth, because the mind leads both the hand and the mouth, so the mind must be straight first, and then the hand and mouth become straight automatically.
In the field of actions, even if one does not speak, the eyes and facial expressions speak, and their language is understood more quickly than words, so before speaking, the mind should be made clean and pure, then speech becomes pure on its own.
The easiest way to purify the mind is to cultivate compassion towards all living beings, because compassion is the mother of all religions, and from compassion arise forgiveness, patience, love, truth, and self-restraint like auspicious flowers.
If compassion is awakened in the heart, then there is no desire to harm anyone, and without harming anyone, the path of one’s own welfare opens, as the sages have said, “May all beings be happy, may all be free from disease”.
Therefore, the essence of all scriptures is this much: make the mind pure by compassion, make speech true and sweet, and make actions beneficial to others, because this threefold discipline is the doorway to the supreme good for everyone.
